An example of what a flexible display could look like

There has been more talk lately regarding research and possible uses of flexible displays, and while watching a recent episode of A Certain Scientific Railgun S, one of the characters pulled out such a display from the side of her rather small cell phone.

Since the series takes place in a world where espers are common and tech is about a decade ahead of the real world such issues as durability and surviving children have probably been solved.  Unfortunately for us, the need for surviving real world situations could greatly influence whether consumers feel the need to have and use flexible displays such as these.

After all, remember the rash of cracked iPhone screens?  How would a flimsy piece of plastic survive?
